2009/10 Executive The Nova Musica Society has been operated by a dedicated volunteer board of directors, with additional contribution from volunteers for all functions. The orchestra has continuously retained a conductor with professional training, and this artistic direction has been compensated by annual honorarium. Orchestra players annually purchase and become the membership of the society, with reduced rates for seniors and students. There has been an open self-audition policy throughout the organization’s history, valuing inclusive community participation and opportunity.
Anne Murray
President
Anne Murray has been with Nova for 25 years and is our concert master. This is her first year as president and we are happy to have her experience and guidance.
Christine Brown
Vice President
Christine has been a member of Nova for three years now in the French horn section. This year she finally has a stand partner and has agreed to be vice president in charge of recruitment.
Les Davies
Treasurer
Les is our expert treasurer and has been for many years. There are rumors that Les learned his counting from his years of Ballroom Dancing. Les is currently playing with our first violin section.
John Leicht
Ways and Means, Concerts
This is John's third year procuring grants for our orchestra. He is also in charge of concert scheduling. He has been playing in the first violin section for over 15 years. Now retired from teaching at Alberta College, he has many extracurricular activities including flying.
Laverne Boswell
Membership Coordinator
Laverne has graciously agreed to help in the position of membership coordinator for a second year. She is a member of our second violin section.

Denise Garand
Librarian

Denise continues to serve as the orchestra's librarian. Our 'mischief meister' counts steadily, teaching us to do so ourselves, as she often gives erroneous bar numbers during rehearsals just for fun! She plays in the first violin section.
Stephanie Wong
Webmaster
Stephanie has been a member of Nova since 2008, playing in the oboe section.
Heather Harper
Secretary
Heather has been a member of Nova since 2002, playing in the cello section. She keeps us on track and takes the minutes for the executive meetings.
