Nova Musica's Artistic Vision
2011-12 Season
Bill Dimmer (Music Director)

The primary thrust of the artistic vision for this coming season is in two parts, performances and repertoire.  Nova's membership has a fairly wide variety of musical experience and skill from advanced to elementary.  Therefore we will continue with the philosophy of improving our level of performance through repertoire and detailed rehearsal with a view to challenging the more advanced players without intimidating those with less skill or experience.  There is no audition to become a member and no one has ever been singled out or pressured for their artistic efforts.  This is relatively unique and is a most important operating principle for our organization.

PERFORMANCES
We have made a conscious decision that all performances must give back to the community at large.  Therefore, all performances fall into one of two general categories: free concerts for people who are typically unable to get out to a performance (such as nursing homes) and performances in a concert venue where there is an admission charged by a third party fund raiser for a bona fide charitable cause.

REPERTOIRE
This season we will prepare repertoire in the fall which is classical music often associated with Christmas but also often performed at other times of the year.  This year's line-up will also include a "pops" piece, a Canadian piece and a major symphonic work from the standard repertoire for spring.
